Hyphema is a term used to describe bleeding in the anterior chamber (the space between the cornea and the iris) of the eye. It is most often the result of trauma to the ocular area. Hyphema often results in decreased vision and the appearance of darkened eyes, especially when it spreads to the sclera, or whites of the eye.
